Labour’s criminal justice legislation since 1997

Introduction

The purpose of this document is twofold: (1) to provide quick links to Labour’s criminal justice acts, which contain a large chunk of their attacks on civil liberties (2) to highlight just how profligate the Labour government’s legislating machine has been in this area, apparently with little effect on overall crime levels.

1997

The criminal justice related Acts of Parliament of this year were all passed before the general election on 1st May, and thus were Tory legislation.
